    Pfleugar Trion

Has anyone tried a pfleugar trion? If so are they worth the money?

    Re: Pfleugar Trion

I bought 2 Pfleuger Trion GX-7 reels earlier this year. I have used them only a few times so far, but they seem to be pretty good. Have a nice rotor balance and a smooth drag system. They come with 2 spools, 1 is loaded with 6 kg braid the other with 4 kg mono. Nice to use for soft plastics. I think they are good value, paid under $100 for the 2 of them. Hope to give them a good workout over the next few months.

I too have a trion GX-7 reel in the 2500 size. Very good reel for the money IMO. I've got one spool loaded with 6lb braid, the other with 4lb. Caught a myriad of species on it, including Barra to 70cm, small jacks, some big grunter, as well as the bread and butter species, had it over 2 years now, fishing plastics, small live baits, small hardbodies. I've got it teamed with a 6'6" strudwick 2-4kg sicstik, great little out fit and handled some great fish on it, best $80 spent on the whole outfit, haven't regretted it once.

Nice rods for the money. I've got a trion baitcaster. Caught heaps of bass and yellowbelly on it. I'd get another in a heart beat.

Im a full convert of pflueger rods.... for the money they simply cant be beat for factory rolled off-the-shelf equipment. The high modulus HMT graphite is superb and can be found in the president range right up to the top-of-the-line supremes... The only difference is the componentry. All sport silicon carbide guide inserts though...awesome value...

The pflueger reels on the other hand i wouldnt give away to my worst enemy...the baitcasters i hear are not too bad but the spin reels leave alot to be desired...

Agree with the guys the rods are top value for their respective price bracket. But never had anything to do with their reels
