Hi all, In Chinchilla working at the moment. Is there anywhere worth trying for a fish at the moment, walking the bank, catch and release. Any other info on bait/lure would be very handy.

try dogwood ck or charleys ck or archers crossing, spinnerbaits and hardbodies nice and slow.........cheers

It's one of those spots where you really have to know the place well to find fish.
It seems that Charlies creek is producing better than the Condamine at the moment but only in certain places.
Spinnerbaits would be the best bet to avoid snags. Bobbing with crayfish will get yellowbelly. Sitting still with a bit will get you nothing but turtles.
I usually start behind the water treatment plant on Charlies and work the bank heading west.
I grew up there so I know the place like the back of my hand.
Start asking the locals and you may get a few hints.

Thanks for the help, I was wondering if the little bit of rain over the last couple days might help put them on the chew? I've fished a few spots after rain and when the water starts to flow, if you move down stream with it you seem to get a better catch, is this the case out here?

The last lot of good rain didn't do much at all for the fishing. Sometimes when a fresh washes through it can quiten the fish down a bit.
We hit the rifle range not so long ago for about five hours flicking spinners and bobbing between my brother and I and saw one turtle.
For an easy to find spot head straight out Windmill rd, it ends at the river, Crawl down the bank and give it a go. It's right where the river bends and has produced some nice fish ( even the occasional cod ) over the years.
Keep an eye out for snakes though....its the right time of year for them.
Once again say g'day to the locals and see if they can point you in the right direction, and don't let anyone tell you that it's fished out. The fish are there, just a lot harder to find nowdays.
