Smile Passage Lizards on the prowl

I was up early on Tuesday and out wading under the Bribie Bridge at about 4.30 am. There was no surface action and the usual dolphin show was not on. However after about five casts with the GULP Turtlebackworm I was whacked by a decent fish that turned out to be a 37cm Squire. With that one in the bag I switched to the GULP Banana Prawn and got a couple of small pike and a chopper.
As the sun came up I moved down to Buckleys’s Hole and on the first cast I was on to a very aggressive 45cm flattie. I picked up three more keepers (the biggest was 62cm) and two throwbacks over the next hour or so. I finished up with cod that was too small at around ten am. Its good fishing at present in the Passage. The water is fairly clear and apart from a little loose weed at the bottom and top of the tide conditions are perfect.
I will probably give the Sandstone Point flats a try in the next few weeks now that the algal bloom seems to have washed away. There should be plenty of flathead in the gaps between the weed beds.

Top Effort Mullet....we're bringing the van and tinnie up to Bribie next month (12th)......We'll be there for 3 weeks and hope to catch a feed too.

We were there a month ago and didn't have the tinnie so we went up to Buckley's Hole with some Gulps. Got a few Pike and had to fight off the pelicans for them...Ha Ha Ha. Another couple had been fishing there most of the day and had bagged some BIG bream on Mullet Gut....also a Tailor 2.....13 Keepers all up.

    Great post MM
    Many Thanks
