Hey guys have a look at the following which was Caught on a charter we had today on Maroochy River caught on a Sp.....Looks like a cross between a Diamond Trevally and a Silver Bream to me but am open to any thoughts any of you might have.
Not the first strange Hybrid that i've encountered either,have caught some differnent ones over time but have not had the camera at hand,anyone got anything intresting to add?
I think it is commonly known as a silver biddie.
Looks like a Silver Biddy never seen one with that longer spine tho.
What did the Guide say?

No idea what these are called but we use them as livies up here in Townsville and have caught quite a few Jacks on them.....They are a lot hardier than the green back Herring.

Std silver biddy, Often seen the long filament on the dorsal fin. Probably gets nipped off by predators early in their lives.

ps not a silver biddy.They're not as tall but longer in the body a simple mistake they do look similar.Jim

yeah, silver biddy, I call them a feather bream, not the correct name, but thats what I was told they were when I first seen one and the name just stuck

bloody oath good bait, i call it for silver biddy, i used one the other day and he got smashed big time, didnt hook up tho but 3 big hits and he was gone

we call them feather bream. thats what i've been told anyway.

I call them boof baits aka barra baits
3/4 of the time if they are under a float or free swimming they will come rite up the surface and that is when you know there is somthing there and you wait for the boof

Curious to know what charter you went on that didnt know that was a biddy? Probably the most common catch in a cast net in the rivers on the sunshine coast!
