its just peace of mind isnt it Noboat...glad you guys made it back ok...what do you think caused the breakage???...plastic fatigue???...how old is the boat???

I know there would be a few blokes out there that would have the attitude of it will never happen to me and I was one of them. I allways service my outboard and look over it regually to pick up any faults that may arrise, so I can have a trouble free day onthe water. But today I was towed by the Coastguard when a plastic part on my throttle broke. Nobody could of seen that one comming. Lucky I am an associate member of the Coastguard so I called them up on the 27meg gave my GPS marks and they came to my aid. So a big Thank You to Coastguard Caloundra for their assistance.
Please support your local Coastguard or VMR as they do a great job and you never know when you may just need their help.

1991 Evinrude 9.9hp on 3.4m tinny. Yes I figure it was plastic fatigue. IMO all boat owners should support and be Acc members of the CG or VMR no matter what size boat or where they go boating. I was only in the Passage but it would of been a long and painfull paddle back to the ramp.
VCG = very low cost insurance & piece of mind!!!

I agree - both CoastGuard and VMR do some great work and are always ready to assist the public - how do I know, I'm an active volunteer member with VMR also. At least you got home safe and sound mate. Cheers, Darren.
They do a marvellous job and am a avid supporter with them all the way

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges
Up here we Use Hussar as baits for real RED FISHS (SHSIIFDER)
Sounds like something I should look into. Cheers
I have witnessed two tow ins from VMR redcliffe in the last two days. One when they took off real quick from scarby and went to the aid of wha apeared to be a 5 metre runabout off scotts point...and towed them to clontarf. And today when they brought back a Blue Fin C/C to scarby. These guys are the 'angels' to us fishos...if you have a boat join the VMR/Coastguard....it may one day save your life..or someone elses.
Cheers
Greg
I called upon the guys at VMR Brisbane to assist in a rescue of 2 sunken navy cadet boats last weekend. Between VMR Brisbane and Sandgate Yacht Club they managed to salvage boat boats.
BTW, I found out why VMR Sandgate is now VMR Brisbane, its because they are the only VMR actually in Brisbane. All the others reside in various shires outside of "Brisbane". So there you go.
