Lawrance X85 ( Got the depth but can't see the bottom)

Hi, i just bought a 4.1 ally craft tinnie with a Lawrance X85 sounder, most of the time it wont give me a structure line but will give me the depth. It wont pick up any type of fish even know there is fish there. when i put it on simulator the screen is so much clearer and displays everything.......... any ideas??????

Take a photo and post it so we can see what your seeing.. may just need to be dropped a bit.. try and get a pic at idle and then get a pic on the plane. Quite a few blokes haning around this site that will help you out..

Checked the obvious like depth setting, sensitivity setting etc?

i wouldn't trust simulator mode for how the unit will look when out on the water

sounds to me like you've got the depth set at say 5m when you are in 10m of water.

like foxx said, check your depth setting.

No, i have checked the depth sensor. it makes no difference if your in 1 foot of water or 30 foot of water, i leave it on auto anyway but have tried alot of other things. I have ruled out operator error..........................
