Is it worth trolling around the Cape yet?

I am fairly new to trolling and was wondering if anyone has had any luck trolling off Cape Moreton or Mooloolaba or is it still too early?

Mostly interested in chasing wahoo, tuna and mahi mahi. Any of these arrived yet? If so how wide does one have to go?

I noticed about a week ago that the temp hit 23 degrees at the waverider but has since dropped to around 21.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I know for a fact that there are some dolphin fish around of the goldie and the water temp has come up quit a bit so i would suggest that the bad boys aren't far away look for some warmer water they wont be far away ...matt

a bit early for the dollies yet - but nothing would surprise me with the way the currents have been - a mate of mine tagged a Blue Marlin a couple of weeks ago at the 90m mark - and they should be long gone

Not quite Greg. Blues are there all year round ,just there numbers are greater in april /may. Stripes are woth a shot atm. Wahoo is definately a good chance at this time.

    Thanks for the replies.

I went out yesterday off Mooloolaba.

Fished Caloundra 12mile for the first time for a couple of snapper then headed wider with no luck. All in all very quiet. We probably covered 100+km and the warmest water we found was about 21.8 degerees. Ended up not putting any lures out. It was also pretty dirty even out wide. Should we have given it a shot?

Closer in about 15kms out of Mooloolaba saw a few scattering of decent arches mid water column.
