That's all right for you NAGG, now you have all those lures .

I'll remember that next time i see you and you can cast a few in my boat I am quick with a knife. I'll just make sure to have the glasses on hey .

Steve B, advises it is pouring rain at Mondy that might put a damper on the slaughter.

Ok boys, Pete4 & Whitto, I have been waiting for a quiet moment to ask this question, and as I have had a couple of throat oils, my decky for the Mondy trip wants to know if he can have a shot at the Bass while we r there. I know the main target is barra but we both, living where we do, love nailing big Bass, so, it doesn't seem to rate much of a mention on the forums but mondy? Bass?

    dare I ask?
    Cheers, Pete

I've never caught a Bass at Monduran before, however last trip there I did see my first mondy Bass!

I was fishing near the end of the point on the left just before white rock and was using the electric to move down a bit when I almost made mince meat of it as it swam in front of the boat! I wouldn't say it was huge but would have been around the 30cm mark.

    Cheers

Well as mater of fact, just between you and me SHHH! Dave Hislop swore he would never have a Bassin QLD comp at Mondy because people get lost there. (yours truley was even geographically embarrassed last trip due to an electronic malfunction [xxxx and no GPS are a bad thing @ Mondy] through no fault of mine )

But turns out there were considerable bass caught at the Bassin comp. I, in fact was in company with my Unique special Bassin Qld Vest at the' Mondy Muster ' till some turd thought they needed it more than me.

Yes there are BASS in Monduran

Yeah yeah yeah, I know, I should be able to tie a knot that doesnt need to be glued, I can tie the bimini twist thingy, and know how to do a twisted leader whatsit, but couldnt be bothered, these are barra, not grander marlin, WTF, it works for me
Hey Brian bring on the November are you up there between the 8th to the 23rd?

Mate it what works for you there is no outstanding knott... We all have our favourites and if asked most of us will say the one we use have never failed. The truth of the matter is its Gills Lips trees and stumps that bring you undone not these common knott we all tie and if your adding a safty chain to it by a little glue all that much more security in you mind. I like a twisted leader again probably not needed but I have done them forever and I feel better knowing its there.

bottom line with conferdence comes fish

Funny isn't it? My first two trips to Monduran all I caught was catfish...........and bass. Only two of them at 46cm and 48cm, both caught on gold predatek vipers targeted for barra......never seen one since.

Your mate will forget all about bass once he has a barra on the other end but in answer to your question, yes you can target them but they seem to be few and far between (and no longer stocked I think....)

Yeh ..... Ya gotta have confidence with your system - whatever you use.
The hand twisted leader (Thanks Trev) which I used with a short bimini & two turn cats paw connection on the last trip ........ was the first time I've felt confident with my system. ...... I think from memory 3 fish were lost (worn or cut leader) during the last trip & all were on Mono ( 80lb wind on & 80lb FC) .
Replacing the leader ...... takes just a couple of minutes ( just reverse the cats paw ) Very happy

Definately there Pete, Ive marked some big schools on the sounder up in B, just never tried for them, hard to go past the barra. They do turn up as barra by catch though the 50 lb gear makes short work of them.
    cheers
