    Yellow Zones

    Hi All,

I've been reading this forum for weeks and have noted down so much great information and so many tips as I am heading to Townsville/Maggie for the first time on Wednesday. I've never fished QLD before and have no idea about yellow/green zones etc.

I have seen that the Picnic Bay Jetty is a yellow zone and was planning to do a lot of fishing from here (I will only be land based).

My question is, what exactly does one rod with one hook mean? Are gang hooks allowed? Or two hooks in one bait, how about trebles? I've always been one to adhere strictly to fishing rules and love my fishing more than anything... (I tell the wife it's only 2nd tho )

Any info would be great and any extra tips on fishing the coming week in the area would also be appreciated

    Thanks!
    Linc

When you get yourself the free Greenzone map for the area your fishing it tells you exactly how many hooks you can use per rig.

linc. putting it simply, you can only have 1 rod. depending on the hook arrangement is different.

2 hooks snelled should be fine as it's for 1 bait.
    gang hooks is fine.
even 6 hooks on a bait jig is fine.
lures with 2 or 3 hooks is fine.

but you can only have 1 rod in the water at any 1 time. does not mean you can have 2 or 3 rods with you.

as for green zones. they are strictly no fish. they are dive/snorkle and photography only.

Linc, you can have upto 6 hooks on any rig, as long as they are designed to go into one bait and catch one fish at a time......straight from the horses Mouth, I was concerned about this as well and shot an email off to the GBRMPA about it.

Lures can have as many trebles as the lure is designed for ie Halco's are made for 2 trebles, so you can have no more than 2 trebles, some RMG's are designed with 3 tebles, so you can have 3 trebles, basically if the lures is made and comes out of the packet with trebles, you can only use that amount of trebles or singles on that lure, you can go down a few, but you can't add any.

Thanks to all of you for your great fast help! I was worried that i might have to have one single hook the whole time! That clears it all up!

Hopefully I'll have some good reports to post upon my return!
