    jumpinpin bar

Would any one be able to help me out with getting some livies outside the pin bar, also any info on the bar as this i have never crossed it. You don,t have to get into the safety side of things as i am prepared to wait for perfect conditions, i am keen to have a go at sullies, but i am freakin that i can,t find bait, any help would be great thanks.

I would suggest that you head out through the seaway. Much safer and if you know what you are doing on the bar, you don't have to worry about heading out or back in while it is still dark. Head over to the Scottish Price or the 12 Fathom reefs for your livies, and then take the long drive up North to Sullies. At least you will be coming home with the wind in your back in summer.

    Re: jumpinpin bar

Friends went out through the bar 2 weeks ago the middle channel was all good. There is a patch of rubble bottom about 2 klm south east of the bar for livies.

Do you have have any bar crossing experience. What looks good on the way out can turn to crap on the way back. Only takes a tide change and a easterly swell.

    Re: jumpinpin bar

Thanks all for the replies, called Andrew and had a good chat, i have had a fair bit of experiance on the sth passage bar cutting threw it on the way to cape morty and done heaps of beach launching threw the surf at straddie. But none on the jumpinpin bar. I know it pays to ask questions and be realistic about boats and surf and jumpinpin sounds like it is very wild at times .
