    Gday once again, just wondering if any body catches spanner crabs in morten bay. I used to catch them in Ballina and would like to get into them again as there a bloody good feed. cheers Brian

    From Cowan to Combi you can get a few along the edges of the channels this time of the yr. Not prolific but half a dozen from a set of 8 dillies is pretty well standard during Sept school holidays. Bonus is you get about the same number of sandies too. I set mine in about 8m of water. Any deeper and the floats go under or the dilly drifts away. Generally set them for about 3 hours over a change of tide then pick them up once the run starts and you cant fish the arti any more.

    Caught 1 last year drifting the rainbow channel on a pilly !!

    Where bouts did you used to catch them in Ballina?? Do you just use traps or dillys like you would use for blue swimmers or muddys in t he river??

    Thank everybody once again very helpful
    fishyfrost,i use a flat trap with dilly mesh wraped around it and they get stuck on top of it. i used to get them any where from black rock to the wave bouy at lennox cheers
