i've got the same one . Its nice and long but not to high wich is good to use for a seat aswell. They are very solid and if you buy off the net they give you a 12ltr for free and some ice packs aswell.

The only thing with a low esky they say it dosnt hold the ice as long as a taller esky.

Yep, I agree with the above........Techni Ice via the WWW. mines 120 ltrs and a cracker for holding the cold............

Just a word of info though.......... The ones that you find on e b a y are often seconds (minor colouring blemishes etc) That's where I got mine and it was a white one with some yellowing in it. Still seals & works perfectly just looks a bit dirty. I also got about 16 free bags of the Techni Ice which is a great bonus. and the price was a steal!!!

I've got my eye on one from Big Chilli Coolers on the Gold coast for 2 reasons, its long enough to handle spotty and schoolie mackeral and has a relatively small height and width. Occasionally they go on sale with a $1 starting price and go for around 120ish.

I'm not telling anyone how to suck eggs but please remember that depth is what keeps eskys cold as cold air etc drops down just as when you open your fridge/freezer door and you see the fog drop. Just a thought.............

That's true mate but my fishing is usually all over within about 6 hours as i no longer do full day runs or overnighters. I would like to be able to fit a metre long fish on ice if and when I catch one rather than either chopping it in two and ruining photo opportunities later or letting it lay on the deck.

For me its an easy choice, short productive runs for me these days through neccessity.

I've also got a couple of the techniice eskies. 80 & 100 litre & although I've only used the 80, going by all reports it has to be a dud. It's bloody useless. 30 degree day in the boat with cold items going in with two bags of ice put in as a solid & they're melted within 12 hours.

Yet to try the ice holding capabilities of the 100 because I use my colemans which hold ice for a couple of days at least under the same circumstances.

I'm very disappointed in the techniice so far but do think it might be just a dud.

I hope so cos if the 100 is the same then they are crap in comparison to Coleman.

What size is the coleman? A 80L esky will take twice the ice over a 40L (not really but close enough for an example) to achieve an equivalent result, the internal and external surface area is larger as is the volume of new air that needs chilling back down each time it is opened.

    Just a though.

    cheers fnq

Sounds like it's not sealing properly. Stick a piece of paper in various places around the seal and close the lid if it doesn't grab when you pull it out you've found your problem. If it's to late to take back you could look around for some thicker stick on seal foam to make the seal better.

I've got the 80 ltr it ice lasts for days.

    Re: esky which one

I can tell you which NOT to buy!

I have two different style eskies made by the same people. One is a yellow Icemate of about 85 litres. The other is a blue IceKool of about 35 litres.

Both are rubbish in my view. After leaving the blue one in my boat in the sun, the lid distorted as to be virtually unusable. All is not lost though; whilst cleaning it out with my Gerni last week, I blasted a hole in the lid so that is the end of that.

The lid on the yellow one has never fitted properly and the internal rack with my lunch in it just slides down into the ice slurry that my fish are sitting in any time that I go fishing.

    Never again!

Nex time I shall get a Tropical. I have not heard any bad stories about them.
