Thread: Yalta Owners Club-aka-Roll Call

Very nice mate! I was planning to just plastic weld my 160ltr eskies, but I really prefer what you have done. How did you build them and how much do they weigh compared to plastic eskies?

    Hey Jullian.

Basically just glued some high density foam together to the shape I wanted, and glassed over. There are about a million threads on building iceboxes on the net.
I only done 1 layer of glass, to keep the weight down, and it ends up quite good for weight. I haven't weighed it, but at a guess I would say a bit lighter than a poly box, I could be very wrong tho. I might weigh it later today to give you an idea.
An option for you may be to just make a glass lid to suit your poly box?

Did you end up selling your seat box's?
How many $$ did you get. Looking to sell mine, but not sure what to put on them.

    Thanks
    Rob

    Hey mate.
    Weighed ice box yesterday.
18kg at 160L capacity. Not sure how that compares to plastic.
    Cheers

Some photos of my rig on this link. 16 rod holders on the stainless bimini and another 9 flush mounted in the boat. Plus another 6 on a combing rack. I have a lot of rods... i have plumbed in the live bait tanks and run an elite 7 HDI sounder, elite 7 GPS and HDS 8 sounder. Mounting my new outriggers next month.

Looks good mate. They handle the water well and have a heap of deck space. Fished on a mates one recently and he removed the port side seat box and has a 200lt esky with a pad on the lid for seating there instead.

I am thinking along the same lines having seat stands to replace the boxes so the eskies can side under the seat stands.

has anyone removed the rear seats /storage bins permanently and made a splash cover for the batteries? wouldn't mind see some pics if anyone has.

Seats removed. No splash covers. Has bitten me numerous times with battery issues. I'm thinking of just gluing them on the back.

Also can recommend the seat frames. I think there are two examples in this thread. Mine and rtp.

Sail track would be the go Julian. At least you can get it out of your way if you are working down there then.

    Hi BigE,
Did you get that from Keith at Burpengary? Looks nice. I think I saw a similar one there but with a different wrap. Let us know how it runs. We have been interested in one but I don't know how well they run

Sent from my XT1580 using Ausfish mobile app

Re the Batteries I thought they looked a bit exposed once the bins were taken out. I think spray curtains would shield them and still leave the space accessible for storage..
