Hey I was at the boat show today and talked to George from Yalta as did Ozynorts yesterday. Anyhoo he has designed a new dash for the 555/2000 that can be changed over with existing ones.( 2 x screws) It has way more space for electronics especially the larger digital gauges these days as well as a good flat area on top. I reckon I will be ordering one of these for mine as the 3 x Yamaha gauges don't fit too well on the original design. Can be ordered direct from Yalta for about $140.
Hey blokes, how you going.
I am in the early stages of buy in new boat, and the 2000 fisherman is right up there in the options in the moment.
A few questions if anyone can help.
They come with 150L fuel, what safe range to you end up with out of a 115? Has anyone got them built with more fuel?
I hope to fish out of 1770 at times. How do the go on the big mile trips
Any advice either way would be great.
Thanks
Rob
Hey Rob, base your calculations on 22 ltrs per hour at around 4500/ 4600 rpm. I forget what that is in km's per ltr, one of the guys has done this calc here somewhere... But if you know our local area, 75 ltrs got me around the entire Moreton Island out from Manly across the bay, through south passage bar, out to the 7's, over to square patch, deep tempest, to the cape, Hutchies, back into the bay via comby point, across the bay back to Manly. I had 3 POB that day. Because I never anchor, fuel consumption included repositioning for drift lines a dozen times, this was also part of the equation. I remember thinking I could have done the trip twice ( although coming home on vapours) but if this is any indication, a full day trip like this is roughly half the fuel capacity.. No I don't think a bigger tank is an option, not from Yalta anyway. I stand corrected.

Thanks scalem
That would leave thing petty tight for the bunker group I would imagine. Does anyone fish the area in one?
Has anyone put after market fuel in anywhere?
Thanks
Rob
A lot of times people quote trips and particular boats and then guess the fuel consumption or whatever, but you only really know correct figures if you measure the distance on your plotter , start with a full tank and then fill it again. All the guess work and such doesnt help at all. Not havin a crack, just saying that when posters are asking for info they want accurate figures. Thats what helps with decisions etc
With my 175 Suzy 4 stroke on my Yalta Odessa 2000 I get 1.7 -1.8 across a range of conditions. I can rely on those figures having tested it over many trips in all sorts of conditions. I only measure it about every 8 th trip now just to confirm its still good.
I do this because even though my tank can hold 160 litres, I dont bother carrying a full tank on my trips as its just a lot of extra weight to carry around for no good reason. I always allow a healthy margin, for unforseen weather etc.

I am thinking about going to look at 2nd hand yalta 2000 2009 model, would anyone know the approx measurement with the trailer jockey wheel all the way day to the bottom of the windscreen?
Is anyone interested in a Yalta Craft get together?
I mentioned it to Julian DeMarchi and he is keen so was wondering if anyone else might be.
His suggestion for a destination was 1770 and I thought perhaps the June long weekend (4-6 June) 2014 might be an option. If anyone has any ideas post them up.

Interested? With bells on! I have not commented on the Breaksea M&G for a few reasons, apart from not having gone I am insanely jealous of those that did go. All reports and photos show how good a time can be had. Even the shot of somebody's moon had me chuckling, it's all fun! The beauty of a Yalta trip ( if all boats participating are Yalta) we will have the similar expectations in terms of the boats capabilities, fuel usage, distance to fishing grounds etc. What a great idea! Look forward to seeing what others think.

Yep the idea would be that it would be a Yalta get together. I know that owners of other makes do stuff like this so why not. If we can get enough interest I would be keen to contact Yalta direct and let them know and see if anyone from them would be interested in attending.
