    Pelican Park Clontarf - Pontoons

    Hi All,

While driving past the Pelican Park Boat Ramp this morning i noticed some work going on so i drove in to see what was happening

Well, suprise, suprise, they have started work on a series of pontoons beside the ramp

It is reportedly going out about 30 meters from the shore with a return end going back towards the information centre

Be finished in about 1 month

    At last, hurrrrrrrraaaaaay.

    Cheers,
    John

Here is a copy of the Notice to Mariners...............

    BRISBANE PILOTAGE AREA
LOCALITY: CLONTARF - BRAMBLE BAY - MORETON BAY
    ACTIVITY: JETTY CONSTRUCTION
Mariners are advised that construction of a new jetty adjacent to the boat ramp at Pelican Park
Clontarf, approximate position latitude 27°15.60`S, longitude 153°05.15`E will commence on 29
September 2008 and continue for a period of approximately 4 weeks.
Works will be conducted from the piling barge "MUD CRAB". The barge will keep a listening
watch on VHF channels 12 and 16 when the vessel is operating. The barge will display the
appropriate lights and signals and a flashing yellow construction light.
Free standing piles will be marked with reflective tape and a flashing yellow light pending
    placement of the pontoons.
Mariners should navigate with caution in the area and pass the works at slow speed no wash.
    Cheers Garry

Well i hope they are dreging it at the same time or it is a waste of money as there is no water there at low tide to get to the pontoons, as any one who uses the ramp will tell you, if they are puting it the toilet side of the ramp then it will need dredging i have seen the water go right out from the wall, before they put the little harbour in there you had to back the car out on sand to where the ramp is now so it has always been a shallow area. and now is full of slimey black mud. but it is well overdue
