Targeting Coral Trout and Red Emperor

Guys have been out the last couple of time and caught squat. Does anyone have good tips/tricks on how I can clean up? Anything at all will help from type of rigging to bait.

trout stick around 30ft mark on the points of the islands and look for bommies
reddies 10ft+ gravel bottom and look for structure it doesnot have to be much

Be prepared to put the time in to chase reds.

Trout love big plastics and livies when your fishing on some ruggered bottom

my humble opinion,Trout- I always do ok with soft plastics, locked up drags etc. Best baits, squidgy flick rigs 120m+ and also with chart colour gulp alive, 4" minnow or 7" gulp nuc chicken. Fishing around structure and bait in 4 metres plus up to 20m but I perfer the visual side in shallower water. Fishing around current lines etc and working the plastic on tide side of the bommie. Also fishing a reef drop off, dropping the plastic down (casting into shallow reef and letting plastic work its way down drop off) Using the lightest jig head to get more action helps.

Reds, I have only used bait sinker on bottom one hook above, found using two hooks not as affective- good reds have always smashed me up. Using fresh squid and quality pillies has worked for me. I have found gravel and slight rises where bait fish hang has been pretty good and fishing late afternoon.
