    Fitzroy Barra

Went down to the river today and picked up this nice barra. Hooked a good one casting over a rockbar with shallow divers, only to have it jump and throw the lure...not happy... threw it back in there again, twitched it back.. no bingo.....i was pissed.. threw it back in again hopin it was still there (still shakin my head), halfway back to the boat and was on... probably the same fish but dont know for sure.. wrapped me around the anchor rope... and being only just hooked on top of the mouth i was nearly certain i was going to lose this one too. the sooner i can get an electric the better it went 88 cms.
    cheers matty z

    Re: Fitzroy Barra

creek vermin.. there has been alot in the local newspaper recently about the river dieing, blaming chemicals coming from the central highlands mines in the floods earlier this year. some commercial fisherman have complained about the drop in thier catch rates and there has been aerial photographs in the paper of mangroves dieing along the river.... so you could say it is not good, but i cant see it? i havent noticed a change in the city reaches itself.. there has been plenty of baitfish life at lowtide on the days i have been there in the last couple of weeks and the first decent go at fishing the place since the warmer weather has got me a fish. i havent decided on fishing the bounty this year... but one of these years ill have a go. i got him on a rapala X-Rap salt.

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges

Up here we Use Hussar as baits for real RED FISHS (SHSIIFDER)
