    A65 operation Q's

    Hello Peoples!
    Few Questions regarding the A65:
    • Anyone using the raymarine PC suite thingy to let you enter waypoints on your home PC? if so where did you purchase, how do you hook up to PC, and is it worth it?
    • When zoomed in as far as possible in plotter mode, the boat indicator becomes really jurky (takes a 5 seconds or so to move the boat) instead of a smooth movement as in real life. Is this normal?
    • Anyone have the NMEA cable to connect up to sounder or smartcraft? if so how much and where did you get it from?
    • We have a navionics gold map. The green zones etc.. are outlined with a little pink line although there is little information in the 'restricted area' toolbar. My previous raymarine unit using C-MAP chart would state the Zone classification ie: Zone 1, 6 etc.. which relates to the level of restriction. Is this a setting in the GPS or a Navionics chart thing?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Q1. You can buy a USB card reader for about $160 that permits you to down update the software/hardware from the Raemarine website. The dealer in Brisbane is:

    Universal Marine Electronic Products
    dean@umes.com.au

Sadly it doesn't let you mess about with the actual charts as you have to purchase a code to open up the the chart of your area - at some ridiculous price!
But you can view/edit all the waypoints/routes etc. when you download the free software from Raemarine. The only available mode for perusing the charts is in Simulate Mode which is pretty useless.

Q2. This has been fixed in a software update that makes the boat symbol a better look and more steady. You will need the stuff in Q1 to download the fix.

Q3. The guy in Q1 will make one up for you if you want!

Q4. I also have the Navionics Gold card and don't have the pink line. You might like to go into the setup menu and under Display, uncheck stuff like "show boundaries" and other similar things. Less is usually better.

    Hope this helps!

    Mate your champion!
    Will have to contact dean.
Cheaky buggers regarding the simulator sofware. I did download the simulator the other night. The default hart is a shocka. Q: so you can place waypoint in this simulator mode and load them onto your card, which can then be re-inserted into the GPS and will show the marks / routes?
I don't mind having the pink line, as the green zones are bloody everywere off cairns here, just a little bit more info regarding these restricted areas is what I am after (there is no way to tell the green zones and the yellow zones apart).
O well, will have to memorise and keep a chart in the boat when unsure.
