Hi.
Has anyone out there fished the Seaforth ( Nth of Mackay) area as we are thinking of stopping off there for a couple days on our return from our regular trip from Cardwell. We will only have a 4 metre tinny so it will proberbly be creeks and close in islands ( I think) I prefer lure casting but I'm partial to a bit of bait fishing as well. So if anyone out there can help me with some spots or hints it would be greatly appreciated as I'm a virgin to this area.
Thanks Andy
G'day mate, the Newry Islands are only 4-6 km off shore, so your tinny is ideal. The spotty mackerel are making a show and are taking gillies metals and pillies.
Launch from Victor Ck ramp, through town about 4 km. Keep LEFT of the red channel markers as there are extensive mudflats. The tides range to 6.5 metres.
Good camping on the beach front and there is a small motel type place just as you come into town, on the right @$75/night, but might be full in the school hols.
Seaforth is where the H is in Halliday bay....Google stuffed up the naming.
