lowrance lcx27c wiring up question
hi all i have a new lowrance lcx27c which i am about half way thru mounting into the quinny by hanging it off the front grab rail as its too big too mount on the dash area - so can i check with some one who is a bit of a guru on these or who has done one recently that when wiring up the unit eactly as per the lowrance manual shows on page 36 which i am doing - that i do use the Power Diagram A wiring method which is shown on page 29 of the manual so as to be able power both the display unit and the GPS module - do you agree ??
my thanks rob

Re: lowrance lcx27c wiring up question
i think that is correct.
but referring to pages of a manual is a very hard for us ausfishers that don't have the manual to tell u right or wrong.
but i think the gps receiver needs to connect via the NMEA connections to the FF unit and power from a 12V+ supply.

Re: lowrance lcx27c wiring up question
how goes it ray and thanks for that - i think i will power both the nema power cable (3 wires - red, black and shield ) and the display power cable 2 wires (red, and black) off the one battery (but not my starter battery i will power them off the auxillary batt i also carry on the boat )- incidently what did you do with the shield cable - did you just cap it off ?? - mate you are a bit quicker at setting up than me - i am a bit challenged when it comes to electronics etc
thanks and see you rob

Re: lowrance lcx27c wiring up question
G/ day Rob you have to use the shield wire it must go to the earth (black wire). Are you running all your power straight to the batteries or are you hookin up to the fuse/box at rear of the console/steering wheel ? Much easier to do this than to run all the way to the rear of the boat to the batteries. If you have a dual batt system then you can run off batt 1 and have batt 2 for starting only.
CHEERS RAY.

Re: lowrance lcx27c wiring up question
thanks ray - yep i will connect the shield to the neg terminal - read the book again - and yes mate i was going to run all wires back to the auxillary batt but may see how it goes if i hook in to the box behind the dash - thought it might get a better picture etc less interference if had a separate feed
thanks and see you rob
