    Tallebudgerra Ck???

    Hey every one!

I'm off camping at tallebudgerra ck in a fortnight and am wondering what it is like to fish and crab? I'm hoping the usual suspects of flatty and bream, but what are the chances of a Jack?

All these Jack posts this week are making me toey as a roman sandle!

Is it worth taking the boat down or should i pack a bigger esky with more beers?

    Cheers

PS. keep the reports coming, it's getting me through my exams knowing that someone is fishing!

are you camping at the little campground just over the bridge? I haven't fished tallebudgerra in quite a few years but it was heavily fished then and I imagine it hasn't gotten much better. You still hear reports of people catching decent stuff outta there though (bream, whiting, flathead and sometimes tailor from around the bridge up to the mouth). I remember a km or 2 up from the bridge there is a 'T' intersection where the river spears left into a waterfront canal estate. We used to fish off of the bush side on a summer evening, casting into the junction and the area in front of the mangroves a bit further up. Used to catch some nice bream and whiting from that spot.
If you have beach rods, take them and read up on some of the reports of nearby beaches, a good backup at least if the river doesn't decide to yield or you don't take a boat.

Thanks goat boy, I have beach rod. will pack it and see if any tailor are still in the surf.

Not sure where the camp site is in relation to the bridge, but i think ill take the boat and venture up to that T section!

you will get bream, whiting and flathead through most of the river. Normally fishes well for these and also smaller trevally and jacks around the mangroves and rocks.
Take the crab pots and give it a go. Recently have only caught undersized crabs in the creek. Although I have been putting the pots in places I could reach land based so other areas reachable by boat may yield some good results.
The break wall, surrounding beaches and Burleigh headland fish well for a wide variety of species. Beach rod for these areas.

    Cheers,

Tally has a bar thats a bit shallow , but if you get a good day Palmy Reef is only 10 min max from the boat ramp, just make sure your getting back through it with the incomming high tide , when theres swell and tide is going out you'll get some good waves and the surfers make it harder to get back in, as for crabs, like above said small, but I have caught a couple of keepers there, yabbies are easy to get, but is an interesting lil river, if you go all the way up the creek, there will be a sign that says "shoals" dont go any further....... unless you hate your prop.
    Cheers
