Re: Awoonga with the Master and Tactician
Great report Matt. I don't know if I missed it or not but what weight jig head did you use and what size hook. Did you have to impart any action or was it a constant slow wind above the weed?
Cheers

Each to their own in regards to fishing comps. Take them or leave them, fishing means so many different things to each and every person. As long as you enjoy your fishing, thats the main thing. There is no need to knock anyone for how they fish and what they are out to achieve in regards to fishing. As long as they stay within the law, and don't personally inhibit your time on the water.
I believe that impoundment barra comps are still in their infancy and will take a few more years to evolve to an accepted standard/format (like the Barra Classic/Naitonals). They will never suit everyone. Most good fisherman aren't willing to put their rods down long enough to organise a decent comp, and the ones that do, crack the shits with it within two to three years because it is bloody hard work and they always cop more winging and abuse than pats on the back! The reason ABT is successful - is because it is a company, that pays people to do the hard work and cop the crap.
Brad, the heads I've made are 3/8 and 1/2 Oz on a 7/0 Hook for the 6" Hollow Bellys and 1/4 and 3/8 Oz on a 5/0 for the 4" Hollow Bellys. These are still in production and wont hit the shops for until mid November unfortunately. We are working very hard to get them out quicker.
We have made a 7/0 worm hook/jungle hook that works pretty well, that will be available in shops within two weeks.
Retrieve was generally a very s l o w rolling retieve, Trev likes the odd burst off speed, and pause on the retrieve as well.
Cheers,
