Fishing the bay
After selling the boat in Jan I haven't been in the bay for ages and am dieing to go for a mackeral or longtail fish this weekend on a mates boat weather permitting. Is it a waste of time [never a waste of time when I'm away from the wife] or should I go.I just haven't been checking this site for a while so any info would be appreciated.

Re: Fishing the bay
I did about 2 hours of trolling spoons yesterday from in front of Redcliffe to about 5km offshore in a series of loops. Found a dirty water line and flotsam line and trolled them till they petered out and everywhere else in the general area. Did not see one bird, mack, tuna or baitfish even. Weekend before i read a report of two school mackeral caught near Scarby reef. I think they must have been the ones that were holding the door open for the rest to leave.
Maybe over the far side of the bay is different, but offshore from redcliffe is dead as.
Jack.

Re: Fishing the bay
yeah, same for me too, sorry to say. Went out on saturday about 8am with the family. Left from Manly and covered territory south of Green Island over to straddie and up to the rous channel. Didn't see one bird diving or hovering unfortunately. Had my spin outfit all set up too!!!
