Brissie River Tryout

Hi guys,

Went for a fish friday night with rat king on the brissie river, it was the second time on the river for me, the first was a couple of months ago, and i didn't like it one bit, but had been telling me about his catches there, so i gave it a go, and had a win! not a big win, but a win!

Early into the night i caught a little 34cm tailor after flicking a 3 inch pumpkin seed minnow near some bait that was freaking out next to some pylons, put him back in and didn't get any hits after that, so off to the next spot, after i think about the second or 3rd cast of my Mazzy Vib bass lure haha, at the new spot, it got absolutely hammered!

I had my little 2-4Kg Dropshot on the my end and it was bent right over! After about 10mins of fighting the fish, and watching it jump out of the water right in front of the boat...scaring the hell out of me and ratking, we got him on board, PB tailor for me at 49cm, big fat one too. i was pretty chuffed after that, Moved spots again and Rat-King pulled up a squire near some jumping bait fish which looked to be about 30-40cm, couldn't really tell in the light, but it was a nice fish all the same.

After that we had one last fish, caught a nice little bream on the mazzy vibe again and called it quits. We didn't catch that many fish, but it was good to get out and try a new spot and succeed, i went out again this morning and got a decent sized flatty on the edge of a drop off with a 5inch curried chicken jerk shad, big guy went 59cm! Good to see the rivers got plenty of fish in it! Cheers

Good on ya mate,theres some nice tailor in the river at the moment and a few of the likely ambush spots and run offs are producing some nice lizards.A lot around that 60 mark so definantly worth the effort. cheers

yeah chief thats true about the 60cm mark flatties, the first time i went to the river, at the same spot i pulled out one that went 62cm

haha yeah cheers for taking us out, next time we'll go out on my boat and i won't catch any but you will, always happens to me...
