    Redcliffe bream, Thursday morning

Went out at dawn to look for a squire or two on the Woody Point reefs. Caught about 8 very small squire, the biggest of which might have stretched to about 15cm. Fortunately there were some nice bream about. Caught about 25, kept 14 with a few good ones amongst them. Best went 35cm and half a dozen over 30. Conditions were perfect with just a light south-westerly. Back at the ramp by 9.00a.m.

When you northerners refer to Squire are you talking about Juvinile Snapper???

Down south they are know as Pinkies.

Yes gagga. Snapper up to about 2kg are commonly called squire up here. Most of the ones caught inside Moreton Bay around the shallow reefs are in htat size range although just now and then you get a knobby inside the bay.

Was catching the bream mostly on prawns Jimbo, although the 35cm one took a whole pilly on ganged hooks. It's amazing how a tiny squire could even get its mouth around a large prawn but they managed somehow.

    Hi Brandon
Were you one of the tinnies out a bit wider to the north-east of me? Is there much structure up that way? I like to fish along the edges of the main reefs. I've cruised around out wide checking out the bottom with the sounder in the past but haven't been able to find a large enough bit of reef out wide to persuade me to mark it on the GPS as a place to try. I know there must be some good spots out wide because I've often chatted with a local when I've been fishing Scott's Point land-based for tailor and he regularly catches good squire out wide from a kayak.

Yep was one wider than me for about an hour. Don't think I would have been more than a km or so from you

Will send you a PM John.

    Cheers
