plastics, I currently have a raider matched with a 2500 sized sol. This is good for aroun dhere at scarborough but some of the snapper they catch around at mud are pretty big.

I use a rod rated for 6 - 14lb braid with a Capricorn 2500. 10lb fireline and 12lb flouro carbon leader.
Your outfit will be fine.
You don't need heavy gear for the Western side of Mud. The eastern side has a lot more structure and an increased chance of losing good fish on light line. I use a 2-4kg Sicstick with a 2000 size reel with 8lb Crystal and a 10lb leader most of the time
