Those are all popular big brand products which will all produce results when used in the right location.

Which ones you use when depends mainly on where you fish and what your chasing.

My favourite metals are gillies pilles, sliders and various halco profiles.

HB, again depends what your chasing, there are too many to just start rattling off specific types.

    Thanks plaztix....

Being fairly new to the fishing game, knowing what to use & what to chase are still quite unfamiliar to me.

It might pay to mention that I am a little limited to landbased fishing (canberra lakes & surrounds) although I do have access to a 6.5m boat with a 50hp evinrude...which while not able to be used every single weekend, trips to the south coast are definitely going to become more frequent!

I think im probably best sticking to bream, whiting, flatties & snapper at this stage in the early stages....but any suggestions, recomm's etc are very welcome as I would love to learn as much as I can from you guys!!

If your chasing bream you can't go past the Ecogear sx40 range. They are widely consider the best hb on bream and can catch any number of other species including trout, redfin, flathead, salmon and even smaller snapper. They are not cheap coming in at slightly under $20 but well worth it in my opinion. Go for the natural colours!

    Hope that helps

Re: Help with SP's & Lures

For the species mentioned you wont need metals. Metals are mainly for your pelagic or surface feeding species like tuna, mackeral and tailor.

Snapper love big plastics and all the 5" varieties you mentioned will do the trick. i've recently started using vib's and crankbaits for snaps and they seem to be accounting for some good fish.

Flatties will take all most anything but big paddle tails are my favourite sp's and just about any deep diving HB in the 50 to 100mm range. flatties aren't picky.

I've caught most of my sp bream on squidgy flickbaits up to 75mm but the 2" gulp shrimps, 2" atomic guzzler prongs and squidgy lobbies are all worth a shot as well. There are literally thousands of good HB for bream but sx40's and jackall chubbies are very nice lures which account for a lot of bream but can be exy if you lose them.

Small blades, like tt's switchblades are very versatile lures as well which can be used in a variety of situations for all sorts of different fish. and are my new go to lure.

Shnappahead as far as the metal vibs go in my book two stand out from an ever growing crowd. TT switchblades and Ecogear VX35's are excellent. TT's are a little cheaper so they might be a good place to start.

    Cool....thanks Gagga.

So the Ecogear SX40F & CK40F are hardbody & the Ecogear VX35's are metals?

For snapper, jew threadies etc. Jackall mask vibes and transams are my favourites but there are lots of others. As gagga said for bream and smaller species the metal blades/vibes like tt's, ecogear and evergreens are the go.

I have seen some prototypes of mini soft crankbaits that berkley are developing, look forward to those when they come out.

Thats right mate..the sx40 and vx35 are both awesome lures....a must in any bream fishos collection.

Haven't had much experience with the ck40's. Ecogear do make another handy lure in the PX45...a prawn style surface lure...again good on bream but also great on whitting.
