    Mac boat help

Can anyone help me? I've been trying to find out some info on these boats.
The boat I'm looking at is a 5.7 m cuddy.
    I'd like to know
    1. What they ride like at sea?
    2. Transom weights.
    3. Can they be modified (screwing stuff in etc).
    4. Is the gunal height a problem when fishing?.
    Cheers John.

They are a Kiwi boat so try a couple of the fishing/boating forums like

    Re: Mac boat help

I think Mac Boats became Ensign Boats under the Haines brand.

    Re: Mac boat help

I teach marine studies at high school which incorporates snorkelling and power boat skills. My school bought a 5.7 centre console Mac in 2001 in commercial survey for 9 - it has a 2 stroke 90hp Mercury. It is used frequently on Moreton Bay and at North West Island - it is a "wet" boat but other than that I cannot find fault with it in the diving or power boat instruction side.

It also influenced me to purchase a 6.2metre Dolphin Flexihull - a poly boat built in 2001 which I also cannot fault.

    Hey Preso
I own a Mac Attack 360 (as you can see from my gallery) and i love the macs. i cannot fault the 360, 420 or 570 in anyway i have run the mac attack over a rock and still nothing wrong with it. I was promised 12 years in the sun warranty when i bought it also you can screw anything into the sides as long as you put a bit of silicon in with the screws it shouldn't be a problem. As far as the ride goes its as smooth as silk with the nice deep vee they have in the hull. I would highly recomend them at last i might know someone else with one

Webby- just looking at getting something with lower sides, a bit easier for you to HOP into .
Mac_atack- The 5.7 has a deep V too does it.
MTAQ/BTAQ- Does it ride ok if only light load, and the one I'm looking at has a 140 4st. Would it be too much weight on the transom?
    Thanks,
    Cheers John.

The V is pretty deep but not insane thats why its such a great ride. The thing i love about them is you can really thrash them into waves.

    Re: Mac boat help

Even when we had 5/6 kitted up scuba divers weighing 175kg each (tanks, weightbelts etc) it would get up and plane quite easily, even though we had the smallest size motor (ie 90hp - due to the schools "budgetary constraints"), we could legally put a 120hp motor on it as the compliance plate stated that aws the max size motor.

Sounds like the one I'm looking at might be over powered. It has a 140 4st Suzuki.
