Thread: Braid colour, does it matter ???

Question Braid colour, does it matter ???

This has properly been asked before, but does the colour of the braid or even mono matter and if so to what extent.

I normally go for greens or blues thinking it will be harder for the fish to see ???.

What about that red, yellow and pink stuff is that so, I can see it with my failing eyesight !

Hey Bruce, ask Tim about the pink braid.

I don't think it matters. I think someone did a poll not long ago on braid colour.

I don't think colour is too much of an issue if you use the right leader. Bright colours definately help visability in low light though

I think the leader solves the problem but I could be wrong

I use coloured braid on the jigging rod and it doesn't make any difference.

if ur fishing deep water it doesnt matter as most colours vanish after 10m or so.
though if u fish the rivers bright lines can put the fish of if there finiky or its clear, therfore u either have to use a very long leader (up to 4m) or just go to fluro straight through, (this is looking from many many hours of breamin)

I generally just use natural colours but as long as my leader is invisible from the fish then I'm happy.

I usually go for the natural colours when luring with hardbodie floats otherwise you see the entire line all the way to the lure itself.

    Wags,
I know what Tim thinks about the pick Braid, I can still remember what he said after the bust off. I think yellow might be the go.

I dont feel that colour means a great deal in general fishing applications.
A more natural colour may have its advantages in some conditions but the leader should be the stealthy part of the line not the braid.
I do like hi vis colours ( yellow)on overcast days using softies as you can pick up on any line movement easily.(bit like wet fly)
