Just my own opinion about what is happening to the bay at the moment which may or may not be the case. The water has been very clean lately and snapper tend to be shy in shallow and head for deeper water. Because of the clear water conditions the sunlight is able to better penetrate the shallow reefs providing better growing conditions for snot weed. There is certainly a lot of it about at the moment which may be another reason for the fish to move out deeper. It's just a theory. Judging by the apparent lack of decent bay reports at the moment I don't think you're alone.

there was plenty of bait at harries but only sticking right against the structure, so if your not on a lump there is absolutely nothing under you.

I flew out to Adelaide for work last week, and the plane took a turn over the top of Mud, so I got a very good view. It was the clearest I have ever seen. Crystal clean to the extent that I could see the bottom and make out all the weed areas on the west side in the 10m water. There were 3 main patches, and the rest looked to be sand. Pity I did not get a picture to then do exploring. one of them was a couple of hundred metres west of where everyone usually fishes. Would be interesting to see if it holds anything.

So when I headed out on Monday afternoon I was not expecting much. I was right. Not one keeper. Normally this time of year I am guaranteed a feed. The water was so clear on the east that I could clearly see the bottom.

Saw a couple of jellyfish on the way over, so maybe they are coming back into the bay and will bring the snapper with them. Here's hoping anyway.
