    Townsville Rockwalls - Marina Entrance

    Hi all,

It's no secret that I fish Townsville Rockwalls - Marina Entrance a lot. In saying that, it's been 3 weeks since I was last down there. I understand that construction has started there and my question is:-

Can we still fish the Townsville Rockwalls - Marina Entrance. Is there still vehicle access to the rock walls. Can we fish there but have to park in Casino car park?

    Any ideas?????????

not sure Kev, don't get done there much, but would be a shame if this is closed off to fishos.

No doubt ..................Not too sure of the whole operation but thework being carried out is probably likely to scare away all fish for a year or 2.

I might start looking for another productive spot nearby.

Looks like the only way any fishing is going to get done at the marina entrance is by boat from now on.

Kingkev, let me know if you ever want to fish the marina entrance (if its restricted access) and if I'm off I'll be in for a quick run in the boat and feed of Grunter from that lovely locale. Plus if we bag a couple, then it frees us up to push a little wider and try our luck.

Matey as I said, let me know if your keen and we can put my boat in a do a quick run around to the Marina Entrance, set up, sit back and relax while we wait for the fish to bite. I work 4 days on 4days off 12 hour shifts so I am pretty flexible when it come to fishing.....

Not afraid of early starts and late nights either....

Thanks Levinge...............I have a problem with motion sickness and am absolutely hopeless on the water. Got no sea legs. I get car sick being a passenger from Townsville to Crystal Creek. I am OK on the Bohle and have been OK on the Haughton. I have watched guys fishing the point (marina entrance) but the bobbing around would kill me.

Have you tried, kwells or something similar Kev?? My Grandfather gets very motion sick as well, but he just plugs one ear with cotton wool (left ear if right handed and vice versa). He got "seasick" fishing on a dam on a windy day once, but when he was up here last, I took him all around maggie with his plugged ear and he had no trouble.

I still get seasick during the dark hours, I think its got something to do with the fact that I can't see what the water's doing, but as soon as there's a bit of light I'm fine.

Tried them all Scott. Last episode was on Horseshoe bay................told before to also eat shit-loads of Ginger. Well I littered the whole bay with Ginger within 1 hour of being on the water.

I can greet you all when you come back from your reef and buy your fish off you..

    dtb,

rowes bay is not bad some good fish come from there.
if you go over the bridge just past the caravan park & i think its a couple of bays down (parking) there is some rocky rubble just off the beach, have caught grunter, slalom, qunnies,gt's, flathead, even seen some very big barra.

King Kev - sorry to hear of you affliction. Is the long rock wall still accessible to landbased fishos. Guess that will be the only spot for a while for you guys.

Scott - You didn't mention the Sea Sick thing on our night fish, still berley could've helped I think....

Know the local Gov, when the new marina developement is done, they will not doubt ban fishos from all areas around the new marina and take a very good fishing spot away for good.
