Just wondering what fishos out there do with the 6" sandworms. How do you rig them and what type of hooks, jig heads. I had order 4" worms but received 6" and not real sure how to use this size.
I rig my 6" worms as per the link Grunter71 posted, with a stinger hook. Works really well. Otherwise if there are smaller fish around or no takes on the full worm I will cut them in half and rig the new 3" worm on a 1/32 or 1/16 Nitro jig head or Squidgy resin head. You also get double the value cutting them in half
I have had great fun with the Gulp Sandworms on whiting, tailor, flathead, pinkies, just about anything will go the worm. Certainly my go to lure in the shallows when all else fails.
Mate i dont even bother using stinger hooks with the 6" worms...my hook up rate is fine without them...
I use em for deep water breamin...im talking water up to 40ft deep...depending on the conditions i use either a 1/8oz Nitro head or 1/6oz Nitro jihead. The size of the hooks on these weights vary but use which ever suits your chosen species...
I usually jig these very slow off the bottom and find that bream cant resist em...i dont lose too many tails either or missed hookups...If you think they are too long just take an inch or two off from the head end...very versatile lures.
