High Vis Glasses

Hey all

I'm just wondering if anyone uses high visibility glasses for their late afternoon / evening fishing ? ........ These are the yellow lens type which are favored by shooters!
With an upcoming trip to monduran ........ I want glasses that would be OK to use into the night ( lure damage to the eye).... + to avoid bugs on the trip back to the ramp!

What brands are available ? ..... i've not seen much locally

Not sure how you would go on a pitch black night on the dam mate but I use these kind of sunnies ALL day long. They do bring more light into your eyes then the black lens glasses but they are able to cut out the damaging light very well.. Have used them on dusk driving no problems.

Just busted my $40 shimano ones, managed to find some Mangrove Jack's on sale for $25 so got them now Will never go back to the black lens mate.. Spotters are a VERY good brand of glasses, personally I am not going to that end of the market again, I lost 2 pairs of Mako glasses in a matter of months awhile ago and jezz did it hurt my hip pocket

PS: there is something out there I was told ages ago about yellow lens glasses causing someone to become upset or angry or something when they stop wearing them (no personal experience )!! Serious the Army (someones army) stopped their troops wearing them cause of the effects.

spotters in their bronze penetrator lens would be the best lens for you.

you can wear them right up until dark...

i've been wearing and selling them for 8 years (among other brands), and compared to others in the estuary's they show sand banks heaps better.

i've covered sunglasses very extensively on ausfish in the past, do a search and you will find a load of information... search for Spotters, Mako, Maui Jim, etc.

I searched hig and low fora pair of polarized yellow sunglasses, scarce as rocking horse nuggets. Only two makes were found one from france for about 250 bills and one from the states for about 90 bucks. I tried them for dawn fishing and found that until the light shone into the water they make no difference at all. They do not amplify light that is not there. above the water they make a big difference but below its surface its still black.

Oh well worth a shot.

When did you last look for them Tuna? there was at least 4 sets of mangrove jack sunnies at the local sunglass hut that fit the bill for $25!! although there was another 20 sets that were the normal black lens.. My Shimano ones came from BCF too witch had at least 4 different designs in the yellow lens..

Have a look at a pair of uvex skyper 9195020 amber lens
These are a uvex safety spec retail at around $18.50 at any BOC store.
Whilst they are not pol. lens they are good for your application.
Use them myself for the same reason as well as driving the boat in twlight.
They work a treat and are cheap if you drop them over the side.

My Mako Photochromics cover my general requirements really well ....... What I am after though are glasses that I can wear into the night ............. For impact protection from lures & bugs ............. A shooting mate of mine once suggested that the yellow lenses brighten your view in low light situations
So thats the idea anyhow

the cheap skypers are the go mate.Do all of the above.Designed to do so.

I'm pretty sure they are the shooting glasses my mate has .......... very very very very pricey .... ...... Make Makos & spotters seem like a bargain $600 ish from memory

If worst comes to worst ...... I'll just grab a pair of safety glasses ( uncomfortable though)
