    halifax boat ramp depth/access to channel

    Hi all
    We are heading down to stay in halifax christmas time and am wondering about ramp there is it ok for 19ft boat, and the depth of creek to channel is it ok at low tide or do we need to go to lucinda ramp.
    We do not know anything about ramp except what real estate agent said, Any info on area would be great thanks

    hi peter,
    no ramp at halifax best place is lucinda get in and out all tides if you mean taylors or allingham beaches you would only get in on high tides,

    There IS a ramp at Halifax, off Mona Rd. Look it up on Google maps.

    The ramp itself is not too bad but you definitely need highish tides to go out and back through the Herbert. Not sure why you'd bother with a 19 footer though.
    Dungeness is a much better option with this size vessel.

    It can be a much better option on windier days to go up the Channel/Neames Inlet using this ramp than the fearful flogging you'll get coming back into Dungeness in any sort of wind in a small boat.

    There are some short cuts through etc, study the maps and bear in mind that you DO need to have a fair bit of tide the first few times you do this to get the hang of what's navigable and what isn't.
