Thumbs up Passage PB in the Icy wind - Tues am

On Tuesday morning I woke up about 3.30am thinking about fish and could not get back to sleep so I headed up to Bribie where the cool wind was blowing. I decided to have a quick fish off the bank before wading in. I managed a couple of Pike down by the bridge on the island side and then dropped a Flathead up towards the boat hire place where the tour boat moors.
With the first rays of sun signaling dawn I decided to wade out on the mainland side but with snotty algae all over the bottom I soon gave up on casting plastics around there. Back to the car and down to the old favorite - Buckley’s Hole. I wandered up and down and had a couple of tussles with what I think were Pike but could not hook them. Then, in quick succession I hooked three Bream, the last of which was a real stonker at 36cm, 725g. He got himself under the ledge but fortunately loosening off the drag worked and he swam out, up and over and I dragged him safely back to the beach.
Then I got a few more hits and a couple of undersize Bream and then wallop I was on to what I thought must be a decent chopper. After a couple of very rapid runs and furious splashes I had a monster 44cm 400 gram Pike – never had one that big – what a fish.
Again it was the 2" Gulp Banana Prawn that did most of the damage. A great mornings fishing but the wind chilled me to the bone!

Hey there MM, i think i saw you on Tuesday at Buckleys. I had a shot around 6am but the drop off was a bit too far to cast into the wind. While i was checking out the situation i found 2 x 6 inch coolite floats & a plastic burley pot on the beach (bargain). I was sitting in the carpark watching you wadeing around. I went down to the canal that feeds the lock & got 2 small Flattys. Went down the Pine today & got 4 Flattys from 54cm to 57cm & 2 honker Bream pretty happy with that, Peter.

    G Day MM

Another Nice catch from Buckleys. I had a quick flic at buckleys on tues arvy for an hour or so and managed 3 nice bream before the tide got too high. So if I can catch them they must be still a few around. Those Bananas sure are the go on the breambos!!

    Cheers Brad.

There are two nice fillets on the bigger ones and contrary to popular belief virtually no bones, pan fried in a fish sandwich last night.
