Gidday all, I don't post very often (mainly just read all the excellent posts) but I had to brag about yesterdays (Sunday's) fish at Mud.
I promised to take my wife fishing all week and Sunday appeared to be the day with the best conditions. I didn't think so though- middle tide half a moon and a westerly.
We left Wello at 5am arrived at Mud around 5:30 and promptly found a spot in amongst the dozen or so other boats. While I was preparing the berley my wife Kim cast out and promptly wound in after feeling a little tug on her line. It was a nice little bay squid on a gamakatsu 6/0 hook!! I said great whack that on your hook and get it back out. Well within moments her shimano baitrunner was screaming and shortly after a 58cm snap was released into the esky.
That was the beginning of a sensationally hot session with 10 snapper all over40cm caught by 10 pastr six. I put two over the side and we continued to upgrade and release fish till about 6:30am. All up caught about 30 snapper/squire with around 18 legal ones (only kept 10 though). It was getting embarassing catching fish after fish when the other boats around us did not seem to be having much luck.
We made the call at 6:45 am to head home with my wife pulling in another snapper. 11 fish in the boat again!!
There was a little tinnie motoring up beside us so I gave him the fish. He said he was looking for the hole to have a fish. I said don"t bother you can have our spot. Him and his mate were stoked . 1 fish in the esky without wetting a line and a prime fishing spot.
I hope they did well. Nice trip back to the ramp and fish filleted and boat washed by 9:00am.
What a fantastic morning. I didn't even get a chance to put the berley out.
Took a photo of the fish in the esky but I can"t work out how to get it from the phone to the computer , if anyone can help I can post a picture.
Who said there were no fish at Mud? Well I,m all Bragged Out!!
Cheers Ian
