A quick report (yeah right

Took a good Kiwi friend Aaron out for a fish today, and this was his maiden voyage.....

My main, and almost only aim was to get him onto a fish and see that look I still get on my face...

We spent the first couple of hours looking and searching, and also getting Aarons casting in tune for some long casts on the spin gear.... It was a steady improvement with his technique, so I started to take him to a couple of spots I was happy with...

With his first hit, his eyes lit up like a Xmas tree, and said that he now knows what I meant by knowing when you get one.....

It was in the dying light of day and we packed up to head home as we could not turn his hits into hookups. I could not help myself and took him to one more spot...

I think the words he said after the 5th cast in the new spot were...

"We are flogging a dead horse.. oh shit I am on"

My first words were.. "Bull*%#t, really?" (I could not see the bend in his rod due to low light)

Then I heard the reel and the jump and called it at first for an 80 odd... Boy was I wrong. After a really well played fight, Aaron guided the barra to the net, which nearly went wrong as the Slick Rig Drop Bear 110 was just caught on the outside of the jaw... Very close to losing that one...

At 110 he was to say at the least dam happy, and so was I to see his grin from ear to ear.

Happy days, happy days...

Cameron,

The wind has been cold to say the least. It was quite strong throughout the day (SE), and along with clear nights, has adversely dropped the water temp by a couple of degrees over the past few days.

But helps me to totally understand from first hand experience, that what works today will most likely not work tomorrow. Game plans need to be changed by the minute on the dam.
