Hi BR65,
I was just reading you trip report thread;
http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/sho...ghlight=swains
I am heading to the Swains in a fortnight on the Kanimbla. I have been there before and will be basically taking most of the same gear (but less!!). I am using your list of things to take to update my old list. Was there anything else I should add not covered here?.
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers
Dave
Another handline won't go astray if you fish out of the dories, they are the way to go in the shallows. We lost a couple when opening cans or just looking away for a split second.
Chuck in a couple of big kick arse 14/0 hooks to play with some of the suits that hang around the boat at night. Hook a whole frame through the eye on some wire and hang on. Good fun wihle it lasts, don't expect to see too mnay of the takers come to the boat though.
Have fun it is the trip of a lifetime.

Heard some good things about the Kanimbla mate, lucky you.
Things Id pack again as follows, hope it helps:
The 2 bottom bounceing outfits
The spin stick and TSS4 - ideal for the shallow lagoon bait fishing
More 7766 6/0s, went thru approx 100 in the week
More leader, went thru approx 150mts of 55lb schneider
Same sinkers, wire, ballons etc
Lip grippers and rod gimbal were great
8" long nose pliers
Set of close fitting disposable gloves for the berley work and filleting up the rat-a-tats (small sweetys, hussar, stripies, iodine bream etc) that you'll use for bait, mate look after your hands, nothing worse than hitting day 4 and all those little nicks, cuts and spikes start getting a bit toey, the gloves were gold and my hands held up good.
Garbage bags to throw my stinky gear in at the end of the day
Backpack and small tackle box for getting in and out of the dorries with
NEW stuff I'd take
The hand held GPS for the dorries - essential item next trip
A light baitcaster for the squid at night, theres some awesome calamari rings swimming around up there
A balanced SP stick, maybe a 6kg stick with a 4000 size reel and 30lb braid for the softies in the lagoons
Mate, you"ll have a blinder, wish it was me
cheers

Thanks guys, very helpful.
The guys I am going with have also mentioned the squid at night, so will include an outfit and squid jigs. They also said to throw in the snorkelling gear.
Cheers
