Crew from Brisbane went out on charter boat "Baitrunner" last Friday and bagged out on snapper and on the way back in wanted some sportfishing. Got more than they bargained for when this monster cobia took the bait on a 10 to 15kg rod.
Two gaffs were required to lift it on board. Estimated weight 50kg plus as there were no scales big enough to check the weight as the iceworks was closed.

nice cobia,mate caught a couple similar size off cape the other week.his went 44 - 47.he is six 2 and the tails were bent on the ground so i would say around that weight would be close. had a fillet or too, bit averagebut better than nothin
