Probably following the sardine shoals close to shore, there Spanish "CUDA" season is roughly the same as ours, the big loners patrol in Winter..

Nice one there 'Boet' ('brother' as they say in S.A.)
Transkei is truly a beautiful and I wish I could get back there some day. Some amazing wild trout fishing in the mountains, and some great er.... herbs grown up in the hills as well.. ;-) When I first came over here I saw your Taylor and thought 'Shad' - very similar fish, except we used to catch them with a live small bream like fish (Steenbras) under a float. Funny thing is the Shad will scale the fish and then make a run for it. Whereas the cuda just takes and runs!!
Excellent work, well done!

And Mulloway are called Salmon in SA it seems!! See the 2nd link RAGINGBULL posted, more photos of the Spaniard there too!
Great fish Wayne, no matter what it is called!. Thanks for posting it.
Cheers
Dave
Great fish, lifetime catch that one!
But the South Africans still call a grunter a grunter
Now who have you been talking to Scott?
Wild Coast - hiked it when I was uni. Never seen any other place like it - a bit like the Great Ocean road in places 'cept there's no road and creek crossings are creepy.
Might drag some of the old pics out if people are interested?
My old man caught a 'Mussel Cracker' there once (including XOS shark, salmon and cuda). Never seen nor heard of a similar fish over here, not even over in WA when I lived there. Musta weighed nearly 10kg with these big round buttons for teeth.

haha, one o Dan's mates I took out fishing once. We got onto a few nice grunter.
