In the boat inshore, 3 at various depths and another with a bait jig.
Everywhere else, just one.
Cheers.
In the shallows I fish two and if in deeper areas I might sneak a livey down as well

just the one
Ideally I'd like to take 4. 2 light spin outfits for soft plastics, 1 medium outfit for heavier soft plastics/spinning/trolling, and 1 medium baitcast outfit for casting lures/trolling.
Only use a maximum of 2 at time though.

In the bay anything can happen so I take two for bream, two for snaps and one for casting placcies at tuna (s10 of coarse). So thats five.
If I'm just chasing bream its four. One for light hard bodies, one for deep divers, one for placcies and one for poppers.
I take 3 rods with me if i'm bassin' in my electric boat(room is limited) or if i'm going in someone boat but if i had another bream boat i would take 6..
As i'm a soft plastics fisherman I only ever fish with one rod at a time. It's ridiculous the amout of rods some of those bait fishos have sticking out of every possible spot on there boats. Its also very much illegal in Victoria, not sure about up north.
well going off Gagga's post, i'll look like a complete goober
I fish with 4,
2 bait runners out the front with live bait.
1 rod out with a strip bait
and 1 jig out looking for live bait, or replaced with a lure or SP.
Sorry, i get bored.
When fishing for Bass in the impoundment, I usually take about 11 rods. Yes 11. 3 to 4 baitcasters, rigged with different Jackals and spinnerbaits, 4 or 5 spin rods again all rigged differently with soft plastics, ice jigs, mask vibs and Jackals and crank/jerk baits. Then I usually have 1 or 2 fly rods rigged up as well. Mainly use this many as I fish a few Bass Tournaments and don't have time to change rigs all the time.
Cheers
