My old man rang me this morning from the jetty at Cooktown, he and Mum are on a trip by boat north from Cairns.

"Hey boy, ya wanna get yar ass up here these blokes are catching meter long Barra off the Jetty, better than that bloody joint u keep goin' to and not catchin' anything"

I hung up on him.................

Fished that jetty a couple of years ago pete, didnt see anything caught but the old fishoes told me a few stories....i was fishin on the lower part, tieing on a plastic, when booooof, massive swirl, two meters away scared the bejesus out of me...yep the old boys said, big fish....nice spot....

Yeah Thanks Dave, A small improvement each day mate, they have got me clocked off until November so theres a good way to go yet.

But i can tell you looking at those little blue shorts made me feel a whole lot better.

Oh yeah and i can report, i am still off the smokes, that's a month now

Good to hear you're on the up and up John, and well done on the smokes, you'll really notice the difference once your up and about. makes a huge difference to your stamina and fitness, no to mention thickness of wallet!!

Just spoke to Foxie and there are two areas to be aware of:

The first is the entrance to south B. After you enter B and do the big 'S' going right then left and back to the right again many of us veer left and head into south B from there or continue to follow the channel straight ahead to north B.

If you veer left be very careful as there is underwater timber that cannot be seen and has caused damage to boats. Suggest you slow down and idle through for 100m or so until you are clear....

The second area is a shallow bank in south B. Many may recall the two islands that are in south B at low water levels. ATM there is only one island but the second area to the south only has a foot or so of water over it. Nearly caught Foxie out one night recently....

Please take care when boating at Monduran and, if in any doubt, slow down and watch your sounders...

hey pete, great spot, fished a little creek off the anan river , looks awsome, crocs, few queenies..didnt get to fish much (had the mrs in toe) ..magic place, a mate lives up there so free accom, would love to do it non stop fishin, but fly up, got use of a tinny also....there are guides in the endeavor river, so a day with them would be worth while....anyone keen... ???
