Today we had to do something that isnt easy, let go a companion that has been with Debs and I for a long long time.
We dont have kids, we have each other and our animals.
Chloe was blind from the diabetes, and the kidneys were going, and we made the tuffest call, to say goodbye.
Like all pets, all she had was the implicit trust that we would look after her and do the right thing.
Today was a great day, glass out on the water, no breeze, sun to warm her up, a day where we could control how it would end, rather than a bad finish to a life we have shared, and a trust we have earned. We did what had to be done on the deck, she couldnt see, but she was with us, and trusted us.
Look after what you have, treasure what you receive, repay the loyalty with care and love.
