I agree Simon - my dogs are very much a part of the family (2 extra kids really) and I only hope that when it comes time to say goodbye that I can handle it with as much care and compassion as Brian and Deb have.

Sorry for your loss Brian and Deb, Chloe was obviously a great buddy.

Today we had to do something that isnt easy, let go a companion that has been with Debs and I for a long long time.
We dont have kids, we have each other and our animals.
Chloe was blind from the diabetes, and the kidneys were going, and we made the tuffest call, to say goodbye.
Like all pets, all she had was the implicit trust that we would look after her and do the right thing.
Today was a great day, glass out on the water, no breeze, sun to warm her up, a day where we could control how it would end, rather than a bad finish to a life we have shared, and a trust we have earned. We did what had to be done on the deck, she couldnt see, but she was with us, and trusted us.

Sorry to hear that Brian, i know just what you and Debs are going through mate as i had to go through the same thing on Thursday 21/05/09.

My Blue Heeler was a real mate, open your eyes in the morning and there she would be, sitting on the floor beside my bed, ears erect and looking into my eyes.
Curling up on the bath mat at the shower door while i was having a shower. Some times as i was leaving to walk out the front door she would wrap both her front paws around one of my ankles to try and stop me from leaving, or she would lean her body against my legs trying to steer me away from the door. Just loved chasing a ball, although tennis balls would not last long as she could pop them open at ease. One night i was watching a movie and she came up beside my chair making a hell of a noise, it was like she was saying, "Come quick dad i need your help" i did get up to see what it was all about and there comming in the back door was a big carpet snake which was very cranky and struck at both of us (yes here in Brighton, the second one).

Mate i feel deeply for you both as i feel like i've been shot in the guts, can't stop thinking about her, she was a great mate.

    Cheers,
    John.

Sorry for your loss John, unconditional love is what our pets give us, they don't judge us, they are just there, paws up on the gate when we get home, hanging for a pat.

    Chin up, Pete.

It just goes to show what a good bunch of blokes we are amounst the muster group we all have got to know each other and respect each other. If one has a loss we all seem to share in it Brian and Deb, John. What I see on here is that we all share a common intrest yet in one Thread a couple of thousand posts in we have gone from strangers to mates to long time friends.... .

On a funny side in the threads on the muster, sessions and bash there has been ups and downs and we have gone from cracks, de knackering, babies being born sad losses wonderful food, fantasic fish, and a thousand laughs. There has been fun day comps a few mishaps the hard luck (mikooth) award, through this the birth of the three great get togethers over a year the Mondy Muster being the mother ship those who have not been to it come along and for those who have well you all know.

    Cheers Nath
