    Baitcaster Braid

    Hi guys, im looking for some advice on braid for my calcutta dc, im goin to be targeting big dam barra on it, mostly on soft plastics. Looking in the 30-50lb strength.

    Mate,

    from my experience i prefer to use traditional braided lines like tuff line XP than fused gel-spun lines like fireline...they are too rigid/stiff for baitcasters and dont lay line as well. Overruns are more hectic as well...

    For big barra in the sticks you need to be concerned more about abrasion resistance than thickness. All of my barra reels have Bionic Braid on them for this reason.

    I use Varivas Cast n Varivas Sea Bass exclusively on all my baitcasters , incidentally I too own Conquest 101DC n 201DC .

    I am very happy with these 2 braided lines and as long as they are available in the shop , I won't look for any other brand albeit there are a few competing brands for the same purpose .

    I use my baitcaster outfits in the freshwater rivers with strong current and numerous snags , the lines mentioned stand up well and due to their color being hi-vis , I can cast accurately into " holes " .

    penn power pro
    bionic braid
    all seem to work well I have not had a problem with any of them I have use all in 30lb I think the tuffline was the nicest to use and power pro was the tuffest
