software suggestions

can any one suggest some good software that would be easy to use to design and print high quality brochures?

I guess it would be some kind of graphics design software

I just want a software program that is affordable but also user freindly.

Adobe Coreldraw is good but you will pay for it tho unsure on current pricing

Corel Draw, easy to use

Illustrator, harder to use


If you want brochures for your business I would suggest you get someone to do design it for you. Unless you are just after a few flyers that you can print from time to time. In that case I would use Coreldraw http://coreldraw.com/Default.aspx

if you have a teacher, a student & some other ( can't remember which ones , but ask at anywhere that they sell coreldraw) people in your family, you can buy a version without a user manual, called 'Academic Version' all which is on disc anyway, it is cheap. My missus is a teacher, she bought the last one & price came down from $1100 to $200 approx. Worth an enquiry..

Good job for my little uni student daughter...

When you say its all on the disc anyway, do you mean that the user manual is on the CD, just no hard copy user manual comes in the box?

I'm ok with using an electronic user manual, but wouldn't want to try and learn how to use the program without a user manual.

Yes, it has an inbuilt tutorial/help that shows how to use the programme, also has a link to an online help.
Plus if you google CorelDRAW tutorials, you will find enough stuff to keep you reading & learning for 12 months..

If you've never done this type of thing before, Corel would be the way to go.
I did this stuff for years with Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop and other various programs which have a fairly high learning curve.
You'll get better results from Illustrator but as others have said..harder to use.
Use Corel with imagination and you can get some pretty neat looking stuff out of it. Learn how to use every tool though. Play around with it. Use the help and Google if you want extra help.
Start looking at other brochures and magazines for ideas.

Depending on how complicated or simple you want to get.......

Ive used some of the other programs mentioned, and ended up going back to Word. Theres some great Templates out there already, for brochures, flyers and newsletters. Just google word and templates.

then drag and drop your photos and text.
