Heres some photos from the reclaimation ponds.
Pretty weird for squire/snapper to school on the surface like this.
oops........................
thats just insane, imagine flicking an unweighted sp into that..or even a popper!
cheers for the photos mate.
Man........ If you were to fish that. Would of been best landbased fishing that seqld has ever seen. I'd go pink grubbin for them
Plaztix,
That is totally unreal, i thought these "photos" would be lost and we would never see the evidence, that's really cool!!
Matt
wow , i wonder if you could cast over the wall and skull drag them over with 100lb line or a big bambo rod .
cheers nico
looks like the photos that nuggetfishing had on his page a while back ,,,,,
Holy crap! cheers for posting those mate!
I saw that pic on nuggets site too...
So if this place is still fed by the bay, I cant for the life of me see where using google earth and the u beaut new pics. It must be some sort of pipeline well hidden beneath the rocks...

If they are reclaiming, they will be pumping sand in.....so the water has to get out somewhere.....which means it can get in too.
cheers
Being a rock wall, I'd assume that there would be lots of gaps between the rocks for the flow of water in and out, however, for numbers of fish like the ones in the pics from plastix, there has to be a large opening, possibly more than one, along the length of the wall?

Thats bloddy awesome !!!!!!! huge school of squire there.
very tempting to fish.

why does there have to be a big opening?
I think the fish have just created there own self sufficient environment within the walls, its a pretty big area so i dont think salinity will ever be too bady depleted. Especially if theres constant fresh sea water seeping through the crevices in the wall. I know lakes up the coast that are only fed by a small trickle, not quite as big as this but still hold some great fish. I've always wondered why fish in lakes or ponds in this case act differently and grow to bigger sizes compared to those outside the lakes. any ideas?
I would suspect that it has to do with the relatively shallow depth and resulting higher average temperature of the "ponds". I have heard of similar effects around power station (hot water) outlets. The warmer water means more food in the food chain i.e. plankton, baitfish, prawns etc, and a longer growing season. Probably less predation is also a factor at least for those species at the top of the pond food chain.
