A few whiting on Amity Banks

Fished for a few hours today for only 25 diver whiting. Hard work for little reward, jeez they were hard to find. Moved around all day trying to find a school but to no avail. Tried most of the small boats passage, heaps of boats there but not much action from what i could see, fishermans gutter and the start of the rous. How did the rest of you guys go???

Yeah, I know how you feel mate. I fished the hope banks yesterday in perfect conditions. spent about 2.5hrs for 7 whiting. Plenty of other boats there also not having much luck. were you using plastics or worms?

on monday i fished the sandhills, left manly at 7am got back at 1-30pm for 63 whiting between two of us
we used plastic worms and squid, they were patchy, had to move around, and around 11am there was no wind so even though we were meant to be drifting, it was as though the anchor was out, during this period we only got a couple of whiting ...........
i was thinking of trying the amity banks but it loks like i done the right move....

I only use squid nowadays, economical and it seems to fish just as well as worms.

Was planning to head over to Moreton on my next trip to see if the numbers are there. Might rethink that plan if you only got 60 between two people.

baydog........if one only wants numbers i suggest you stay a lot closer to shore, say compass adjustment bouy and catch your 150 plus.........
i prefer to catch quality, our 60 fish would weigh the same as 150 from compass bouy, but would take far longer to fillet..........
in the past month or so i have caught up to a 100 from moreton on my own, BUT it is a risk whether they are there or not due to netters etc, also fishing is not just about numbers caught, i do it for a pastime and give away my catch apart from a feed each time for myself..............

    Hi Robsua,

Were abouts is the compass adjustment bouy, i have been having trouble catching the smaller ones they make great snapper bait and always try to keep a few frozen for bait....

    mad one
the compass adjustment bouy........exit left out of the brisbane river, follow three red channel markers, the fourth one is the compass adjustment bouy, though small whiting are usually anywhere along that channel
