    G'day

Prawns usually from feb through to april, march. With quality getting better around easter onwards.

This year for me was funny, the run wasn't as long but when I found them, I got more and of a much higher quality. Best cast being 37 banana prawns around the 22cm mark.

What you have to understand is it's all about then local area, go and understand and know the local area and you will have success.

    G'day

When i say know your area, i'm referring to it as know it well enough to look for when looking for the prawns.

Holes at low tide, and up the steep banks, pref. under cover on the making tide

Search on this subject, plenty has been written.

Re: how and when to catcth prawns????

    Hi mate,
I lived at Noosa for 8 years before returning to North Queensland last year.

Live prawns ( like most systems) are the one and only key to gauranteed success in the Noosa River.

The spot that was consistent 99% of the time for me was the old Tewantin Baths. Feb- May was the best but you can usually get enough for a good session at anytime of the year. I mainly used to drag net but cast netting the weed beds opposite Harbour Town sand ramp is the way to go during winter. My old man used to send me in at night so all I need is to have a son and I too will never get wet again.

The weeds beds are also a handy spot during the day time.

    Hope this helps.

    PS

The mouth of the 2nd lake and top of the ski run is also a cracker place but you need a boat for these.

    Watch for pesky Bull Sharks!
