I am not sure what the difference is but I am interested to know.
I have one blank that was classed as a cast and have all intentions of using it as a spinner and I did ask the manufactor if this was ok and they did say yes. Good question
hey all just wondering what is the difference between a blank labeled casting or spin? and there fore is there any real reason you wouldnt want to build spin rod on a casting blank or vice versa

no difference imo
spin is usually longer than casting
I was under the impression that the difference was in the taper with the casting ones being slower to suit overhead reels and the spin ones for threadlines

u can get both in various tapers
the tapers are usually to suit the type of fishing
as mentioed yes you can build both rods on both blanks...
if they come ex factroy labeled spin then the design process for that blank has focused on spinning / threadline use and has been designed for that...likewise with a Ex factory blank labeled CAST it normally has a bit more cloth in the butt section so the butt stay firmer when built up as a baitcaster / overhead rod.
