Well done Jeremy. I'd rather catch one at that size, then 5 at 36cm. Great to hear that drag screaming! The big ones are there at Mud, just have to find them. Top effort!

Fantastic fish. What rod and reel and line? I started using braid awhile back and am slowly reducing its rated strength. Down to 6 kilo now. I use a jarvis walker 2-4 kilo rod 6' that cost me $24 with a slightly longer rod butt that you can tuck under your wrist to get a bit more support. A Abu garcia 2000 series reel that I picked up on special at $10 from Big W. No it hasn't gone gravely yet unlike the reel I brought while I was in china that almost seized after the first schoolie mackerel. I havent been reefed by many squire yet. My largest to date is 60CM. They normally only take about 2-3 minutes before they are aboard. But that scream of the reel is addictive hey .

the plastic was a 4" powerbait in pumkinseed scales (I think). 1/4 oz jig head. I like my line class fishing so all my fishing is done with pretest mono. This fish was on 3kg mono. I would love to get one on 2kg. The rod is an old Daiwa firewolf, rated 12-17lb I think. I like a rod with some grunt. The reel was an old Shakespeare intrepid. Very underrated reel with a 12-disc drag system and line roller which works.

    Thanks for the comments.
